The Pool Players, Seven at the Golden Shovel

by Gwendolyn Brooks

We real cool. We
Left school. We

Lurk late. We
Strike straight. We

Sing sin. We
Thin gin. We

Jazz June. We
Die soon.

  1. It was very cool to see (and hear) two different versions of the same poem being read. The same words can sound so different based on the reader.

  2. I loved the tone of your voice; kept my attention. Was your intention to create a somber mood? You may consider a little more inflection in your voice at the end.

The tone of voice used was definitely on target for the mood of the poem, great job.
